FED: Fraser in Russia for support over Aussie aid workers
Former prime minister MALCOLM FRASER says he's made progress in persuading Russia to use
its influence to help two Australian aid workers held in Yugoslavia.
Mr FRASER, who is head of CARE Australia, says Australian diplomats would be granted access
to CARE Australia workers PETER WALLACE and STEVEN PRATT within 24 hours.
He's held talks in Moscow, and has told the ABC he's been assured the matter is going to be
looked into with great seriousness.
Mr FRASER also says he is prepared to visit Belgrade if necessary to secure the men's
release.
Yugoslav troops arrested Mr PRATT and Mr WALLACE on March 31.
Serb authorities have accused Mr PRATT of spying for NATO - a charge he has confessed to on
Yugoslav television.
