NSW: NSW first homebuyers waiting on government forms
SYDNEY, April 14 AAP - Treasurer Michael Egan announced today that application forms
for the Federal Government's $14,000 First Home Owners Scheme would be available over
the Easter weekend.
More than one month after it was announced, only a handful of applications have been
received in NSW for the scheme because homebuyers claim there is a chronic lack of application
forms in NSW.
At least 50 names are currently on a list to receive the forms by fax or post, and
only 16 applications have been lodged for the new grant to date.
But, according to media reports, the wait could be longer than expected - the application
forms for the scheme have not even been printed.
A spokesperson for Treasurer Michael Egan said that if there was a problem with the
forms, it could be fixed as early as next week.
The Treasurer himself announced this afternoon that application forms for both the
First Home Owner Grant and First Home Plus will be made available over the Easter weekend.
Applicants can call 9689-6357 or 9689-6559 between 9 am and 5 pm Saturday to Monday
to obtain a form for the grants.
