Fed: Plane evacuated after panicked passenger tries to exit
More than 140 passengers have been evacuated and their aircraft searched at BrisbaneAirport after a passenger opened the plane's emergency door before take-off.
A 20-year-old man was apprehended by crew and removed from the plane after he triedto open an emergency door near his seat above a wing, just before 9am (AEST).
Police say the man, who is believed to be on medication after a recent operation, mayhave suffered a panic attack.
Passengers were still boarding the Perth-bound flight when the incident occurred.
Police Inspector STEVE MULHERAN says a search was carried out at the request of passengersas some were concerned the man may have left something on board.
Inspector MULHERAN says there was no danger to passengers, crew, the aircraft or the man.
The West Australian man has been charged with the federal offence of interfering witha mechanism of the aircraft.
He was released from custody and ordered to face Brisbane Magistrate's Court on January 14.
The plane is due to arrive in Perth at the revised time of 1.20pm (WST).
