NSW:Men acquitted of 2004 murder
Two men have been found NOT guilty of the 1994 murder of a Sydney woman, whose blood-curdling
screams imprinted themselves in the minds of neighbours.
But the New South Wales Supreme Court jury has found 43-year-old CAMERON SCOTT guilty
of the manslaughter of MELLONEY MENHENNITT.
The jury acquitted 30-year-old MICHAEL WIDMER of the manslaughter alternative and could
not agree on a charge of being an accessory after the fact.
The men denied the March 2004 murder of 23-year-old Ms MENHENNITT whose remains were
found by fossickers in isolated bushland near Manly in September 2009.
While the crown could not prove the cause of death, Crown prosector JOHN KIELY said
jurors would dismiss any suggestion that she died on natural causes or from a drug overdose.
The matter will be mentioned before Justice TERENCE BUDDIN tomorrow.
